On the World Water Day (March 22), the rivers and the rational use of natural resources of the city of Bonito in Mato Grosso do Sul was the agenda of regional and national news programs of TV Globo.
The report about Bonito MS aired on Thursday (22) in the Jornal Nacional of Rede Globo. The tourist destination shows that it is possible to make money with the preservation of nature.
"Mato Grosso do Sul gives an example of preservation of natural resources" that was the story of TV Morena, affiliate of TV Globo in Mato Grosso do Sul.
The report showed how Bonito strenghten its economy though the preservation of water reserves. Environmental projects in Serra da Bodoquena, where are located the tourist cities of Bonito and Jardim, protect rivers in the region, and already cover 95% of conservation areas, called riparian.
Images of crystal clear waters, and numerous species of fish in the region as the Dourado and Piraputangas illustrated the story.
Claudia Gaigher, reporter correspondent of Mato Grosso do Sul of Rede Globo shows how the tourism grew in the region. Bonito, provincial town with only 20,00 inhabitants, annually receives nearly 300,000 visitors. For 20 year, were two inns, now has 86 hotels. In the 2011 the tourist destination reached R$ 120 million of gain.
