In late june 2012, on 25-29 June, takes place at the Convention Center, the city of Corumba (MS), the 6th Brazilian Congress of Mastozoology. The event that occurs first in the Midwest in Brazil, the city gateway to the Pantanal, to bring together researchers from around the world.
One reason for the choice of the event happens in Corumba, according to the event organizers, is for being an ideal scenario, "important sanctuary of conservation of various species of mammals".
The theme of the event organized by Embrapa Pantanal will be "The mastozoology and the biodiversity crisis", and must raise questions about the management and conservation of mammals in Brazil and worldwide.
About 600 researchers, students and professional should attend. The importance of Brazil to host this event is the rich biodiversity and its conservation needs.
Embrapa Pantanal is holding the event in partnership with the Brazilian Society of Mastozoology and the Graduate Program in Ecology of Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul.
