Considered the capital of the Bolivian Pantanal, the city of Puerto Suarez completed 136 years of foundation on November 10, 2011. The city is located 16 kilometers from the border with Corumbá (MS).

The mayor of Corumbá Ruiter Cunha de Oliveira participated in the civic-military parade attended by hundreds of people and authorities yesterday morning. "It`s time to celebrate the friendship between the two peoples, Brazilian and Bolivian," said the mayor.

Ruiter Cunha de Oliveira commented on the importance of growth in the Pantanal region and believes that this should occur together, integrating all municipalities in the region, including Bolivia.

Puerto Suárez

Puerto Suárez was founded in November 10, 1875, on the shores of the bay of Caceres, by Miguel Suarez Arana. It is located 590 km east of the provincial capital, Santa Cruz, near the border with Brazil.
